Sometimes, when we seek inspiration online, we need a bit of guidance. There’s a plethora of information out there, which can get overwhelming. And we don’t want that happening. So, if you want to learn more about Mid-Century Modern design and pick up a few tips here and there, this short list is for you.
Here are five mid-century modern design blogs for inspiration.
Mid-Century Home
Mid-Century Home is a digital magazine that focuses on the development of Modernist architecture, starting from the early 20th Century through the midcentury period and up to the present day.
Editor-in-Chief Marco Guagliardo founded the magazine to showcase homes, interiors, furniture, and landscaping that blend form and function with the homeowners at the core. The platform also celebrates modernist architects and artisans who set the standard for future generations and inspires new artists to push the boundaries of modernist design.
Retro Renovation
Retro Renovation® is an online hub dedicated to celebrating and preserving the charm and character of Mid-20th Century home decor and design. It is an invaluable resource for homeowners, DIY enthusiasts, and design aficionados looking to restore or recreate the aesthetics of the past.
Visitors can immerse themselves in a treasure trove of products and sources that help them remodel, renovate and decorate their homes in authentic mid-century style. It is also a platform for a vibrant community of retro enthusiasts to connect, share their own renovation projects, and seek advice from like-minded individuals.
Mid-Century Millennial
Mid-Century Millennial. As the name clearly suggests, this website is run by a “vintage-loving” millennial, Megan Housekeeper.
This website is a digital haven for vintage enthusiasts of all ages. What started as Megan’s DIY renovation journey for her 1970s home during the pandemic has blossomed into a vibrant platform bursting with inspiration and creativity.
Aside from retro-inspired interiors, you can also check out her website for DIY projects and tips on thrifting, travel, renovation, and more.
Destination Eichler
Homeowners Karen Nepacena and John Shum created the design blog Destination Eichler to share their remodeling journey of a mid-century modern Eichler house in Northern California.
After gaining attention for their house remodeling projects and blog, the couple began taking on clients who were interested in their modern design approach, specifically focusing on mid-century modern architecture.
In 2016, Destination Eichler blossomed from a blog into a full-service interior design company. As a design firm, they now help clients breathe life into their homes with imaginative and stunning designs.
